After first plasma in 2021, the JT-60SA device will be shut down for the installation of a number of enhancements. The design and manufacturing for the enhancements will be split between QST and F4E, while the installation will be performed predominantly by QST. Support from F4E and the associated European laboratories will be provided during installation and commissioning activities.
From F4E, the enhancements include:
- Edicam
- Thomson Scattering
- Pellet Launching System (PLS)
- Divertor Cryopumps
- Divertor Spectrometer
- Fast Ion Loss Detector
- Massive Gas Injection (MGI)
From QST, the enhancements include:
