Procurement Sharing – Phase I

During the Phase I of STP project, from definition of design to completion on machine assembly and first operation , Procurement Arrangements for each major item, prepared in detail by the EU and JA Home Teams, are made between the Project Team and one or both of the Implementing Agencies. For Japan, a subsequent contract is then usually made with industry for the procurement. For Euratom, the industrial contracts are placed with the voluntary contributor designated institutions, or directly with F4E.

In the Phase II of the STP , the scope of the collaboration between JA and EU has concentrated on a number of machine enhancements in terms of auxiliary equipments and diagnostics. The scheme of Procurement Arrangements and the general organisation is substantially the same as for Phase I
